The Londontowne Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is Central Maryland’s premier community orchestra. We are delighted to serve the community through quality orchestral music by continuing to highlight the gems of the orchestral repertoire while featuring wonderfully talented local soloists and outstanding orchestra members.
The LSO was started in 2003 by the late Kathy Solano, a professional violinist who also taught in the public school system for more than 30 years. She had a vision of a community orchestra in Anne Arundel County that would provide high-quality classical and light classical music at an affordable price. Her vision also included reaching out to young people to give them experience and education in an orchestral setting.
Throughout the years, the LSO has lived up to that vision as it has grown in size, scope, and popularity. The LSO typically plays five concerts each season, with one of those geared toward young people. Under the direction of Anna Binneweg since 2007, the orchestra has matured into the premier orchestra that it is today. The LSO is composed of professionals, military musicians, private/public school teachers, extraordinary amateurs, and students. The orchestra reaches out into the community with chamber recitals, quartets and quintets.
